One of the most common questions we get after "how much does it cost" is "how long will this actually take." Here's a realistic, stage-by-stage look at what clear aligner treatment involves, based on how we run it at our in-house aligner centre.
Week 0: Free consultation & 3D digital scan
Every treatment starts with a free consultation (Sundays, 5–8 PM) where we examine your teeth and bite, discuss what you want to change, and take a 3D digital scan — no messy putty impressions. This scan becomes the blueprint for your entire treatment plan.
24–48 hours: Your treatment plan & first aligner
Because our lab designs and manufactures aligners in-house rather than outsourcing to an external facility, your first aligner is typically ready within 24 hours of your scan. We'll walk you through your projected treatment plan — roughly how many aligner sets you'll need and an estimated timeline — before you start wearing them.
Weeks 1–6: Early movement & adjustment
You'll change aligners roughly every 1–2 weeks, as advised for your case. The first few days with each new aligner often bring mild pressure — that's expected and is a sign the aligner is doing its job. By week 6, most patients have adjusted to the routine of wearing, removing for meals, and cleaning.
Months 2–4: Visible progress
This is usually when patients and the people around them start noticing a difference. We schedule a check-in roughly once a month to confirm your teeth are tracking with the plan and that each new aligner is fitting properly.
Months 4–9 (varies by case): Refinement, if needed
Not every case needs this step, but some do: if a tooth is moving slightly ahead of or behind schedule, we may take a new scan and issue a short set of refinement aligners to fine-tune the result. This is a normal part of getting a precise finish, not a setback.
Final weeks: Finishing touches
Once your teeth reach the planned position, we confirm your bite is comfortable and functional, not just that the teeth look straight. Small bite adjustments sometimes happen in this stage.
After active treatment: Retainers
The day you finish your last aligner isn't the end of the process — it's the start of retention. We fit your retainer and set a wear schedule immediately, because teeth can start drifting back within weeks without one. Retention is planned and priced in from the very start, not an unexpected add-on.
Typical overall timeline
Mild spacing or crowding: often around 6 months. Moderate crowding or bite correction: commonly 9–14 months. More complex cases: up to 18 months or slightly more. Your exact timeline is confirmed after your 3D scan — we don't quote a number before actually seeing your case.
